black blue and yellow textile

Traditional crochet, often associated with table runners, doilies, and other domestic objects, is usually tied to functional patterns. By moving beyond these conventional forms, it becomes possible to explore new artistic possibilities.

After years of following classical designs, improvisation opens the way to spontaneous patterns that respond intuitively to rhythm, texture, and form. Each stitch transforms into a deliberate yet flexible gesture, contributing to compositions that are sculptural, dynamic, and conceptually rich.

This approach expands the perception of craft, showing that crochet can move from domestic utility to artistic exploration. By honoring tradition while embracing improvisation and innovation, these pieces invite reflection, creativity, and a renewed appreciation of the technique.

SMALL BASKETS

The idea of creating volume using plant fibers like hemp is a real challenge for crochet as a technique.

Moving away from traditional patterns and giving crochet a more artistic character, with a forward-looking perspective, is incredibly exciting. What really interests me is extracting the essence of crochet, the stitches themselves and combining them in such a way that when someone looks at the piece, they can’t quite tell what technique was used to create that textile artwork.

Here you can see small hand-crocheted baskets made with a 3 mm hook, combining 0.5 hemp fiber and 0.5 colored cotton threads. In this case, they measure between 6.5 and 7 cm in diameter and about 1 cm in height.

They’re available in various colors or in a single color, such as black. The idea is to create a textile installation, either as a wall piece or arranged horizontally across a large table.

These are handcrafted, one of a kind pieces. Each one has its own dimensions. They may look identical, but they’re not — it all depends on the material.

If you’re interested in creating a specific installation, we can talk about sizes and quantities based on your project.

Four volum set

It is interesting to explore the transformation of natural fibers into three-dimensional forms. By combining hemp and other plant fibers with hand-spun and recycled wool, sculptural pieces can be created that interact with space, texture, and light.

Vegetable fibers and threads offer unique textures and resilience. Hemp, for instance, provides structure and firmness, allowing the creation of small, precise shapes that hold their form. Cotton adds softness and subtle flexibility, while wool introduces elasticity and warmth, enhancing the tactile quality of the piece.

This set consists of four unique pieces, knitted with a size 3 crochet hook with polished black cotton and hemp yarn.

The approximate dimensions are between 15 cm in diameter and 11 cm in height for the largest piece, and the smallest is 11 cm in diameter by 7 cm in height.

Spiderweb table mat

This decorative table mat is hand-crocheted in the form of a spiderweb, radiating from a central point into a network of open, geometric threads. The repeating pattern of loops and radial lines evokes the delicate structure of a web while maintaining a balanced circular composition suitable for placement on a table surface.

The openwork construction allows light to pass through the pattern, casting subtle shadows that emphasize the intricate geometry of the design. Both functional and ornamental, the piece transforms a familiar natural form into a refined textile object, highlighting the expressive possibilities of crochet in domestic settings.

The handles are woven with polished hemp thread.

Handwoven Table Runner

This table runner is crochet hand-woven from soft cotton yarn combined with polished hemp fiber.

Its elongated shape is defined by a rhythmic arrangement of interwoven threads, creating a harmonious pattern that emphasizes both structure and flow.

The polished hemp serves primarily to support the multiple cotton threads, providing subtle rigidity to the piece without compromising its overall softness.

Circular Crochet Vessel

This circular vessel is crocheted by hand using hand-spun sheep’s wool combined with hemp thread. Beginning at the center and expanding outward in a spiral, the repeated stitches create a shallow container whose form emerges through the tension and rhythm of the fiber.

The softness of the wool contrasts with the strength and linear character of the hemp, giving the piece both flexibility and structure. The work highlights the material qualities of natural fibers and reflects textile traditions rooted in domestic and agrarian craft.
